🎙️ What's the Vibe?
Stepping into Thrillhouse Records, I was immediately struck by the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The place had a clean, well-organized vibe, which was a pleasant surprise for a downtown record shop. The lone gentleman behind the counter greeted me with a friendly smile, setting the tone for my browsing experience.
🎵 What's Spinning Here?
As I scanned the shelves, I was pleased to find an impressive collection that catered to my tastes in ambient, electronic, drone, and modern classical music. The owner had clearly curated this section with care, and I was thrilled to discover several titles that had eluded me elsewhere. The rock section was also well-stocked with quality sealed and new releases, alongside a smaller but excellent selection of used and vintage records.
💎 Any Rare Finds?
I couldn't help but gravitate towards the rare and collectible vinyl section, which included some fantastic blues and jazz rarities. Although I did have a slightly disappointing experience with a warped record, the owner's willingness to give them the benefit of the doubt and their overall commitment to quality made me eager to return and explore further.
🏘️ The Neighbourhood
Thrillhouse Records is nestled right in the heart of downtown San Francisco, surrounded by the bustling energy of the city. As I stepped out onto the sidewalk, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement about the vibrant neighborhood and all the hidden musical gems it likely holds.
💰 What's it Gonna Cost Ya?
The prices at Thrillhouse Records were quite reasonable, with a nice mix of affordable new releases and higher-end collectibles. I found a few gems that I couldn't resist, including a Grouper LP that the owner had enthusiastically recommended. While I did have one pricey purchase that ended up being a bit of a disappointment, the overall value and selection at Thrillhouse made it well worth the visit.
