🎙️ What's the Vibe?
Stepping into Str33T Records, it immediately felt like a cozy, welcoming space — not the kind of stuffy, intimidating record shop you sometimes find. The small size gave it a charming, intimate feel, and everything looked clean and well-organized, which I always appreciate in a record store.
🎵 What's Spinning Here?
As soon as I started browsing, I could tell the selection here was top-notch. Tons of quality new and sealed rock albums, which is right up my alley. But what really caught my eye was the smaller, curated collection of used and vintage records. I found myself drawn to the thoughtful curation of other genres like ambient, electronic, drone, and modern classical — areas I'm really passionate about.
💎 Any Rare Finds?
I was stoked to stumble upon some rare blues and jazz titles that I'd been hunting for. Unfortunately, one of the vintage records I picked up ended up having a bad warp that caused some skipping. But the shopkeeper was super cool about it and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt — they probably just didn't have a chance to play test that one thoroughly. I'll definitely be back to dig deeper and see what other hidden gems I can uncover.
🏘️ The Neighbourhood
Str33T Records is nestled right in the heart of downtown Alhambra, which has such a cool, laidback vibe. As I wandered the streets, I couldn't help but soak in the vintage charm — it felt like stepping back in time a bit. The record shop fits right in with the neighbourhood's relaxed, artsy character.
💰 What's it Gonna Cost Ya?
I came across a Grouper LP that the friendly shopkeeper recommended, and it ended up being a real steal at just $50. Not bad at all for a rare find like that. Of course, I also couldn't resist picking up a few other records, but the prices seemed fair across the board. This is definitely the kind of place where you can walk out with a satisfying haul without breaking the bank.
