🎙️ What's the Vibe?
I walked in to some funky tunes playing through the speakers, immediately setting a cool, laid-back vibe. The spacious, high-ceilinged shop had a clean, organized feel, with records lining the walls — I could tell this was a place run by someone who really cares about their collection.
🎵 What's Spinning Here?
Stopping by, I was impressed by the diverse selection — from the usual rock and pop staples like AC/DC, Beatles, and Bowie, to a respectable jazz section featuring reissues from the Tone Poet and Real Gone Music labels. I even spotted some intriguing punk and reggae records I don't usually see in most shops.
💎 Any Rare Finds?
First time here and I managed to snag a pristine original '74 pressing of Miles Davis' Big Fun — not bad! I also grabbed a reissue of a Dum Dum Boys LP, a punk band from the late 70s/early 80s Australian scene. The owner seems to have a keen eye for those hard-to-find, off-the-beaten-path gems.
🏘️ The Neighbourhood
I'd heard about this place being in downtown Lafayette, and it definitely had that cool, local vibe. Clean, spacious, and well-organized — it's the kind of record shop that makes you want to spend an afternoon digging through the stacks, discovering new music.
💰 What's it Gonna Cost Ya?
Been on my list for a while, and I have to say the prices were a little higher than I'm used to. But the owner was upfront about it, looking up online prices when one of the records I was interested in didn't have a tag. Definitely not the cheapest spot, but the selection and clean condition of the used LPs make it worth the occasional splurge.
